MGSF elects new office bearers, reaffirms demands

Imphal, March 24 2025:
The general body meeting of Manipur Government Services' Federation (MGSF) was held on Sunday, at its Chingamakha office, with president Dr Rajendra Singh presiding over the session in the presence of JCC of Engineering Departments advisor Tongbram Tikendrajit Singh and other senior leaders of MGSF.
During the meeting, senior vice-president Laishram Sharat highlighted the background and achievements of MGSF, emphasising its affiliation with the All India State Government Employees' Federation (AISGEF), which has been advocating for addressing employees' grievances at national and international levels.
He stressed the need to address issues pertaining to the restoration of the Old Pension System (OPS), timely pay revisions, and employment generation.
General secretary Purujit Lairikyengbam reiterated MGSF's role in championing government employees' demands and acknowledged the contributions of treasurer A Indubala.
Vice-president L Ishwarjit underscored the need for a national-level movement to address employees' concerns and proposed the formation of district committees of MGSF, as suggested by AISGEF general secretary A Sreekumar during his recent visit.
In his presidential address, Dr Rajendra stressed the need to rejuvenate MGSF by involving young and dynamic employees.
Following the meeting, the election of new office bearers was conducted, and an eight-member advisory committee was formed with Dr Rajendra as the chief advisor.
A 24-member executive committee was elected with Laishram Sharat as president and Sagolshem Probinkumar as general secretary.
Kebi Goshwami was elected as the internal auditor.
The new general secretary announced that the first executive committee meeting will be held on March 29, where a Women's Sub-Com-mittee will be constituted, followed by the handing and taking over of charges.
