Cong MLA blames CM for mess in state

Imphal, December 02 2023: While holding CM Biren accountable for alleged failure to maintain law and order in the state in-spite of being in power for seven years, Congress MLA K Ranjit expressed remorse that the Congress party is being falsely blamed for the misdeeds of the incumbent chief minister.

Addressing media persons at Congress Bhawan, here, on Saturday, Ranjit said that N Biren has been serving as the chief minister for over 7 years in addition to being a member of Congress for 15 years.

Despite all these, he has failed to maintain law and order in the state and has no sense of administration.

He cannot blame the Congress for all his misdeeds but resign for some time to save Manipur and return after peace is restored.

It is very clear that Manipur has been destroyed under his rule.

He cannot just run away leaving all his misdeeds behind and blame the Congress for all his wrong doings, MLA Ranjit said and added that the fact that there is no law and order in the state is not only the view of the Congress but has also been admitted by the Supreme Court, Manipur Governor and the union defence minister.

Therefore, it is high time for CM Biren to resign and let another BJP MLA who does not discriminate people in the valley and hills and has the capability to convince the central leaders take charge as the chief minister, he maintained.

MLA Ranjit also stated that people of Manipur forgoing Ningol Chakkouba festival during the reign of CM Biren will remain etched in the history of Manipur.

The whole episode of May 3 could have been avoided had he (CM) taken up measures to control the situation beforehand and acted as the real chief minister.

He should take the responsibility for the pain and suffering of the public, the MLA added.
