Imphal, January 09 2024:
Considering the crisis in the state, Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Co-ordination Committee has exclaimed that the candidates selected for induction as personnel of 10th and 11th IRB should not be sent to Assam for basic training by road and the government should ensure safety of the candidates at all cost.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, on Tuesday, Committee convenor Laishram Mema said that due to the present crisis in the state transport services along the national highways have been halted.
There have been instances where the passenger vehicles had to return back without reaching their destination due to interruptions along the national highway despite the govefnment making security arrangement for the bus services.
Under such circumstance, the initiative of the government to arrange travel services along the national highway for the selected IRB candidates for training in Assam is not advisable, she said and added that the step of the government is akin to risking lives of the candidates.
The mothers of the state will not remain silent over such irresponsible attitude of thegovernment.
Instead of sending the candidates via road, flight service could be arranged for them.
If at all, they (candidates) have to be sent by the road, the ministers and MLAs accompany them, Mema insisted.
Meanwhile, Committee co-convenor Yumnam Ibeyai-ma expressed discontentment over eerie silence of PM Narendra Modi regardless of being aware about the crisis gripping the state for over 8 months.
Noting that the PM extended birthday wishes to CM Bi-ren, she said that the people of the state are offended by the attitude of the Prime Minister.
The crisis in the state should be resolved at the earliest considering the hardships being faced by the public, she demanded.
