Special air fare package urged

The Senior Citizens Club (SCC) has appealed to the Ministry of Aviation and airlines operating in Manipur to introduce a special concessional air fare package for the State till normalcy is restored.
The appeal was made through the State Government.
SCC, in a statement, said that there is no rail link as of now and surface travel by way of public or private transport is only possible upto Sekmai.
The only way available to go outside Manipur is by taking a flight especially for the valley people, it added.
Saying that there is no reduction in the quantum of people going outside Manipur despite the turmoil and the economic meltdown, the Club added that even the Government is feeling the pinch of the ongoing crisis and the same can be seen in its inability to pay the salary of its employees on time.
The hike in air fare is worsening the suffering of the people who need to go outside Manipur for various purposes, the SCC said and appealed to the Ministry of Aviation and various airlines operating in Manipur to introduce a special concessional air fare package for the people of Manipur till normalcy is restored.
