KSO proposes MPSC exam centre in CCpur

Kangpokpi, July 30 2025: The Kuki Students' Organisation-General Headquarters (KSO-GHQ) has appealed to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to designate Churachandpur as an additional centre for the 2025 Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) Mains Examination, citing the continued displacement of Kuki aspirants and the challenges posed by the ongoing ethnic unrest.

The proposal comes as Kuki-Zo aspirants, many displaced by Manipur's ongoing ethnic violence, face severe logistical barriers.

The KSO-GHQ expressed deep concern over the recent MPSC notification (dated July 11, 2025), which designates Imphal and Guwahati as the only examination centres for ttie forthcoming Mains examination.

In its memorandum to the Governor, the students' body noted that this arrangement poses "undue physical, psychological, and financial hardship" to candidates from the hill districts, particularly those from the Kuki community.

The organisation underscored that many promising candidates have already missed state-level competitive exams in the past due to the ongoing unrest and the exclusive location of examination centres in Imphal.

"We earnestly request your kind intervention to facilitate the conduct of the Mains examination in Churachandpur district.

This would ensure inclusivity and equal opportunity for all eligible aspirants while addressing the logistical and emotional challenges posed by long-distance travel in a volatile environment,' the appeal stated.

The KSO further highlighted that several major national-level competitive examinations - including UGC-NET, NEET, Agniveer, SSC, and banking exams - have recently been conducted successfully and peacefully in Churachandpur, proving the district's logistical readiness and administrative capability.

The memorandum was jointly signed by Dr Seiboi Touttiang, general secretary, and T Haokip, education secretary of the KSO-GHQ, who emphasised that holding the MPSC exam in Churachandpur would not only promote fairness and accessibility but also "restore faith in democratic institutions" and "ensure that no deserving youth is left behind due to circumstances beyond their control" .

The organisation urged the Governor's office to act swiftly to rectify the structural disadvantage faced by hill district aspirants and ensure equitable access to public employment opportunities.
