CorCom salutes people on Human Rights Day
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, December 09 2023: On the eve of the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights falling on December 10, the proscribed Coordination Committee (CorCom) extended revolutionary salute and greetings to all the 'oppressed' people of Manipur living under Indian occupation.

The conglomerate of revolutionary groups operating in Manipur also shared pains and suffering of people affected by the on-going well-planned 'proxy' war waged by India - groomed Kuki narco-terrorists.

On the occasion, the outfit also extended support to all the oppressed people of the globe waging movement for self-determination and safeguarding human rights and called upon all the oppressed people to stand united for a collective fight against the oppressors.

According to a CorCom statement issued by publicity committee, commemoration of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights or 'International Human Rights Day' observance by global people on December 10 is particularly significant for the oppressed society/people fighting for independence.

It said that the United Nations General Assembly declared December 10 as 'Human Rights Day' in 1948 and the day is being observed successfully by UN General Assembly as per Resolution 423 (V) since then.

The CorCom statement forwarded by media coordinator further said that Manipur (Kangleipak) has been facing war or war-like situation at different phases in its long existence as a sovereign nation.

It is due to anxiety for freedom among the people that Manipur (Kangleipak) continues to be a collective nationality of different ethnic communities inhabiting in the land till today.

With the movement for self-determination continuing, people of Manipur (Kangleipak) continue to suffer a lot and face human rights violation, the CorCom said.

In the present conflict situation, indigenous people of Manipur (Kangleipak) launching armed movement for self-determination strictly follow guidelines of the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) which is not to target non-party to the conflict or non-combatant.

However, India violates IHL guidelines and tortures innocent civilians of Manipur (Kangleipak) while imposing globally rejected draconian laws like the AFSPA-1958, the CorCom said.

According to the statement, the theme set by the UN for this year's 'Human Rights Day' observance 'Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All' itself is most apt for the oppressed people of Manipur (Kangleipak) .

It is the fundamental right of the every people to restore the lost sovereignty of Manipur (Kangleipak) and launching armed movement for achieving this objective is approved by Part 2 of Article 1 of Chapter 1 of UN Charter.

Apart from this, Article 3 of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples also gives the indigenes the right to self-determination.

Accordingly, there is no right of India to suppress the movement for self-determination of the people of Manipur (Kangleipak).

While stating that the goal of revolutionary movement would be realised within a short period if all the indigenous people of Manipur (Kangleipak) stand united, the CorCom appealed to every section of Manipur (Kangleipak) people to understand that the ongoing communal conflict or emergence of separatist thought among communities is a part of India's proxy war.

On one hand, India adopts different secret tactics to interfere in affairs internal to neighbouring country and even extends financial and material support and arms training while on the other hand India triggered ethnic conflicts to suppress or wrongly portray the movement for self-determination of indigenous people of WE-SEA and to distort the idea of united Manipur (Kangleipak).

Apart from this, India nurtures foreign mercenaries and adopts different tactics to suppress the movement for self-determination in Manipur (Kangleipak) and WESEA region, the CorCom alleged adding that Indian forces are supporting militarisation and drug cartel.

According to the CorCom statement, India puts enormous efforts to destroy economy and courage of the Manipur (Kangleipak) society launching the movement for self-determination and vivid example to this has been India's attempt to convert Manipur (Kangleipak) as a buffer state and a theatre for India's geo-political game.

In the ethnic cleansing of the Meeteis from Churachandpur, Moreh and Kangpokpi, there are enough evidences of complete destruction of Meetei houses and properties in these areas with the support of Indian army, the CorCom claimed adding that India is adopting different tactics to drag indigenous communities into communal conflict.

India encouraged growth of Kuki militant groups despite the community not waging war against the country and allowed the community to accumulate land belonging to indigenous people and poppy plantation in the name of Suspension of Operation (SoO).

Under the guise of democracy, India adopts different tactics to suppress the movement for self-determination in WESEA region and killed scores of valued revolutionaries while many have been involuntarily disappeared.

Apart from this, many women have been raped by Indian forces while scores have been killed in fake encounters, the CorCom alleged.

While stressing the need for people to collectively move toward the path for restoring the lost sovereignty of Manipur (Kangleipak) with the coming of December 10, the CorCom called upon people to put efforts to keep intact the identity of Manipur (Kangleipak) nationality.

It also said that all the CSOs as well as local, student and women organisations of Manipur (Kangleipak) should bring the matter of Right to Self-Determination clearly and petition the Fourth (Special Political and Decolonisation) Committee with the strong demand for recognising Manipur (Kangleipak), annexed by India in 1949, as a Non-Self-Governing territory.

Further appealing to the people to be cautious of conversion of Manipur (Kangleipak) to an ethnic war zone with the continuous abetment of illegal immigrants into the state, the CorCom said the prolonged claim of handful of chauvinistic leaders/people that the Indian government will protect people of Manipur (Kangleipak) and bring development have been proven wrong as could be comprehended at the juncture.

India will never protect Manipur (Kangleipak) but only wants it to be a frontline have also been clearly demonstrated by recent events.

India wants only the land of Manipur (Kangleipak) and eyeing to exploit resources and minerals of the land, the CorCom said and further alleged India of utilising Manipur (Kangleipak) as a key point for its geo-political game and buffer zone to counter Chinese policy.

In India's effort to gain control of Bay of Bengal and Pacific Ocean, people of Manipur (Kangleipak) have endured untold suffering.

Apart from propagating anti-China policy, India provides tacit support to ethnic army to bring in capitalists in the region, the CorCom said and urged people to understand that India has been creating division among indigenous people of the region.
