Imphal, December 09 2023:
The CorCom has asserted that people must take the responsibility of safeguar-ding the idea and identity of Manipur (Kangleipak) being a nationality.
A statement issued by CorCom Publicity Committee on the eve of the Inter- national Human Rights Day asserted that CSOs, student bodies, women organisations and local organisations must raise the question of Manipur's right to self determination in unambiguous terms.
In this regard, petitions must be submitted to the Fourth (Special Political and Decolonisation) Committee so that Manipur (Kanglei-pak) is recognised as a non-self-governing territory, it said.
On the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the CorCom conveyed best wishes and solidarity to all the people who have been suffering collectively under the alien rule and the brunt of the well planned war being waged by Kuki narco-terrorists.
It is the collective desire and aspiration for freedom which is enabling Manipur (Kangleipak) to exist as a nationality of multiple ethnic groups, it said.
Whereas the revolutionary groups have been strictly abiding by the international humanitarian law of not attacking/harming non-com- batants, India has been violating the same international humanitarian law by unleashing all kinds of repre- ssive measures against non-combatants/civilians, it alleged.
This year's theme of International Human Rights Day: 'Dignity, Freedom and Justice for All' is quite appropriate to the situation of Manipur.
Restoring the lost independence of Manipur (Kangleipak) is a fundamental right of every Manipuri.
For this, armed struggle is permitted by the Chapter 1, Article 1, Part 2 of the UN Charter as well as the Article 3 of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indi- genous Peoples, the CorCom asserted.
It alleged that the ethnic polarisation seen today in Manipur is an outcome of the proxy war being waged by India.
The Government of India has been engineering several ethnic conflicts with the primary objective of suppre- ssing the freedom struggles of the indigenous peoples of WESEA, it alleged.
As a part of its strategy to suppress liberation movements, India has been creating and grooming foreign mercenaries.
An ethnic cleansing campaign has been going on against Meeteis in Chura-chandpur, Moreh and Kang- pokpi, and the Indian army allegedly gave support when Meitei houses and properties were destroyed completely, the CorCom said.
Grabbing indigenous peoples' land, extensive poppy cultivation and ethnic polarisation in the name of Suspension of Operation after creation of Kuki armed groups are all parts of India's suppressive strategies, it alleged.
People must remain highly alert in the face of the conversion of Manipur into an ethnic war zone by way of facilitating continuous influx of non-local people into the State, CorCom said.
The propaganda floated by some collaborators that Manipur would achieve new heights of development and India would protect Manipuri people has now been proved totally wrong, it said.
It is now very clear that India will never protect Manipuri people and it (Indiua) is only keen to keep Manipur as a frontier.
The Government of India has been using Manipur (Kangleipak) as a space for their geopolitical manoeuvres and counter-Chinese policy, it alleged.
India's efforts to dominate Bay of Bengal and Pacific Ocean has been causing untold misery to Manipur, it added.
