Imphal, December 09 2023:
Not satisfied with how the Government has been dealing with the violent crisis in Manipur, ex-MLA cum social activist RK Anand has asked whether Chief Minister N Biren is discreetly taking part in the collusion to break Manipur apart.
Today, members of the Integrity, Unity and Peace Committee visited the family members of the 13 Meeteis who were murdered at Leithao village in Tengnoupal on December 4 and shared their pain.
RK Anand is the advisor to the Committee.
Speaking to the media by the sideline, RK Anand contended that the violence in Manipur wouldn't last this long had the Government taken up swift actions when Meeteis were targeted at Kuki dominated areas on May 3 .

Saying that whatever the Meeteis have been doing are only to save themselves and their properties from the onslaught of Kuki militants, the ex-MLA continued that many Meeteis have also been killed by the aggressors.
Condemning the massacre at Leithao, RK Anand said that the bereaved families who they met are displeased with the Government for letting the violence to linger on.
It is unfortunate that the Governments at the Centre and the State haven't put any sincere effort to restore normalcy in Manipur, he said and asked if the double engine BJP Governments want more people to be killed.
He also said that the Prime Minister maintaining studied silence on Manipur violence is unfortunate.
Continuing that the divide between the parties in conflict will widen if the Centre continues to ignore the violence in Manipur, he expressed suspicion of the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister and the Chief Minister having a hand in the attempt to disintegrate Manipur.
RK Anand further stated that the unity and integrity of Manipur has been threatened by the geo-politics of India by installing a puppet Government in Manipur.
Reminding that Manipur is also a part of India, the ex-MLA said that the State Government must stand up against the divide and rule policy of India to protect Manipur.
Is there any point of having an elected Government in Manipur if they are going to allow the violence to persist for so many months and put the people in extreme misery, he asked.
The State Government cannot convene even a special session of the Assembly to discuss the situation, RK Anand added.
Further stating that there are many things which the Chief Minister still can do at his capacity though he is not a leader of the unified command, the ex-MLA reminded how former Chief Minister O Ibobi didn't allow NSCN (IM) Muivah to enter Manipur despite strong pressure from the then Government at New Delhi.
He also said that the BJP in Manipur celebrating the victory of the party in Assembly elections in three States and asking the people to vote for BJP in 2024 Lok Sabha elections was unfortunate and it clearly indicates that the BJP takes winning elections to be more important than addressing the suffering of the people.
Accusing the Government of trying to divert the issue in Manipur instead of dousing the flame of violence, RK Anand contended that the State Government has become bootless when people need them the most.
Meeteis cannot go further than Sekmai in the north, Keithelmanbi in the west and Pallel in the south and this is the reality of the contemporary Manipur society, he said and asked if peace means confining Meeteis to limited areas to the Government.
He also said that BJP will never get the two Parliamentary seats which they envision.
