Imphal, August 13 2023:
Asserting that the present crisis in the state is a gift of BJP in connection with the 75 years of Indian independence, CPI (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, Karnataka state leader Clifton D Rozario has stressed the need for removal of chief minister N Biren as the first step towards a political solution to the present crisis in Manipur.
An 8-member team of CPIML, All India Lawyer Association for Justice (AI-LAJ) and All India Progressive Women Association (AIPWA) is in the state to show solidarity to those affected by the ethnic violence which has been going on since May 3 last and hundreds of people have lost their lives and thousands rendered homeless so far.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Sunday after their meeting with victims of communal violence in Imphal, Kangpokpi and Churachandpur, Clifton said that ethnic violence like the present one in the state has never happened in the history of India ad is a gift of BJP to Manipur on the occasion of the 75 years of Indian independence.
Blaming the state and central governments for the present turmoil in Manipur, Clifton said that the Prime Minister is considering his foreign trip more important than the issue in Manipur even after chief minister Bi-ren had admitted that he is in no position to control the situation.
The statement of the Prime Minister and the Union Home minister has proved that both of them have failed to bring about a comprehensive political solution to the present crisis in the state.
Lauding the role of local clubs and CSOs in looking after the needs of those displaced people taking shelter in relief camps, Clifton D Rozario questioned the intention of the government in not providing any related services to the relief camps opened in Imphal.
He said that the relief camps in Churachandpur and Kangpokpi are also facing huge problems in addition to the difficulties faced by the inmates in relief camps opened in Imphal regarding essential services.
Clifton also stated that the team had met the Governor and provided feedback and suggestion regarding the crisis in the state.
