Imphal, August 13 2023:
Stating that the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF), Kuki Inpi and other civil society organisations of Kukis should be well aware of the gang-rape of a Meetei woman in Churachandpur, MLA Karam Shyam has maintained that the Kuki CSOs should be held responsible for the heinous crime.
The MLA was speaking at a function held at a relief camp at Tera Khongshangbi in connection with the brutal killing of three civilians by armed Kuki militants while sleeping on August 5 .
Sharing his condolences to the bereaved family during the function organised by Salai Kanba Lup Terakhongsangbi and Khudekpi, the MLA said that the brutal killing of the trio is a cowardly act and he condemns it in the strongest terms.
The government should arrest and book those involved in the killing, he said.
He further, stated that Meeteis have reacted and condemned the naked parading of two Kuki women by an unruly mob and even destroyed the house of those involved in the crime.
However, none of the Kuki CSOs have expressed condemnation over the gang-rape of a Meetei woman in Churachandpur.
The case should also be handed over to CBI as was done in the case of the viral video incident, he added.
He also provided financial assistance to the
relief camp.
