Imphal, August 13 2023:
Refuting the allegation of gang-rape of a Meetei woman by Kuki mob in Churachandpur district on May 3, Zomi Mothers' Association (ZMA) has stated that "there was no rape incident in Churachandpur on May 3, and that any allegation for the same is completely unfounded" .
In a statement, ZMA said that such baseless allegations must be thoroughly investigated by CBI to bring out the truth of the matter.
The statement also expressed shock on seeing a fake press statement using its letterhead dated August 12, condemning the alleged gang-rape rape of a 37-year-old Meetei woman in Churachandpur on May 3 .
ZMA condemns the illegal usage of its name and letterhead by unknown miscreants and said that it will pursue the matter with relevant offices of the cyber-crime department.
It further requested all concerned citizens to join the Kuki-Zomi community in condemning such malicious acts that can lead to public confusion while adding that such acts of cyber-crime are becoming a common occurrence in the ongoing conflict in the state.
