Sit-in continues against gang rape

Demanding strict punishment of the Kuki militants involved in the gang rape of a Meitei woman in Churachandpur district, Khwai Lamphel Women's Development Organisation staged a sit-in protest at Thangmeiband Khomdram Selungba Leikai, here, on Sunday.
During the sit-in, the protestors used placards inscribed with slogans, "Go back AR", "Hand over May 3 gang rape case to CBI", "Uproot all Chin Kuki narco-terrorists", "Remove AR", etc.
Speaking on the sidelines, Organisation president Gurumayum Thoibi accused the central and state governments of failing to end the violence in the state, which has been going on for more than three months.
It is the people who are courageously defending against the Kuki militants.
Since the premeditated May 3 clashes began, many Meitei houses have been burned down and thousands displaced.
A married' Meitei woman who was fleeing for safety was gang-raped by the Kuki militants.
However, the PM failed to speak on the matter, compared to when a video of two Kuki women being paraded naked went viral.
Thus, she urged against being partial between the communities, while demanding strict punishment of the Kuki militants involved in the gang rape.
