Cong observes 132nd Patriots' Day
'Present generation needs to cultivate selfless nature of patriots'

As elsewhere in the state, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) also observed the 132nd Patriots' Day at Congress Bhavan, BT Road, here, on Sunday morning.
MPCC president Keisam Meghachandra led the gathering in offering floral tributes to the bust of Bir Tikendrajit installed within the Bhavan premises.
The observance was also attended by ex-deputy chief minister Gaikhangnam, deputy CLP leader K Ranjit, MLA Th Lokeshwar, ex-minister M Okendro, ex-minister AK Mirabai and other officer bearers and members.
Speaking on the occasion, Meghachandra said that we should honour the bravehearts who firmly believed that it was better to be hanged to death for the motherland instead of living under a foreign rule.
He then stressed the need for the present generation to cultivate this spirit of selflessness and sacrifice, while appealing to all concerned to help restore peace and normalcy in the state.
Konthoujam Block Congress Committee (KBCC) also observed the day at its office in Awang Jiri Mayai Leikai on Sunday.
The observance was attended by MPCC Kishan Congress chairman L Nando Singh, KBCC vice president Sh Bapuyaima Sharma and Imphal West District Congress Committee vice president H Ibotombi Singh.
During the observance, the gathering offered floral tributes to the portraits of Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General, and further appealed to the all concerned to help solve the prevailing violence in the state, while assuring to help alleviate the suffering of the farmers during this crisis.
