Imphal, August 13 2023:
United Club's Organisation of Bishnupur District (UCOBID) has demanded that central security forces including Indian Army be removed from, the state, while the state forces be strengthened.
In a release, UCOBID said that taking advantage of the prevailing crisis in the state, Government of India sent in large number of Indian Army personnel but where they been deployed or used is not known to the people.
Due to their biased actions, public have strongly expressed their discontent against them which is why the state's denizens and meira paibi activists have been agitating for removal of Assam Rifles from the state.
Whether it's AR or any other central forces they are basically taking orders from Government of India, it emphasised.
Asserting that military rule like governance in the state is a ploy to stamp out democracy in the state, UCOBID maintained that removing of Indian Army and other central security forces from Manipur by Union government will be the right step as the state has been suffering from the draconian Armed Forces (Special Rower) Act,' 1958 for a long time now.
Secret tactics have been carried out in the state so that communal conflict erupts again and again.
The central government is responsible for the present situation in the state by allowing SoO agreement bound Kuki militants to do whatever they like and not monitoring them, it claimed.
UCOBID also alleged that there is a hidden agenda in deploying more and more Indian Army in the state while undermining the state forces.
Considering the present situation it is necessary that the state forces are fortified so that it can provide security to the people of the state, it added.
