Imphal, March 24 2025: An eight-day Thang-Ta and Sarik-Sarak workshop organised by Mangan Thang-Ta Lup from March 16 concluded at its Irom Meijrao training hall on Sunday.

In a statement, Mangan Thang-Ta Lup informed that the valedictory programme of the workshop was attended by Lairenjam Meijrao GP ward no 10 member Shougrakpam Rani Chanu and Thang-Ta Cultural Association, Yumnam Huidrom president Thiyam Kora Singh as chief guest and president respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, Shougrakpam Rani highlighted that although Manipur is a small state, it has made India known to the world through its sports, art and culture and Thang-Ta.

She noted that the brave forefathers of Manipur, who defended the motherland from enemies, are well-documented in history books.

According to Rani, all residents of the state, including women and children, should learn Thanga Ta, Sarik-Sarak and Huyen Langlon in order to build a disciplined, culturally rich and peaceful Manipur.

Learning these traditional martial arts would help one to inculcate respect, build Character and ensure a drug-free lifestyle, she said.

Universal Huyel Langlon Academy, Samurou president Shandam Ibomcha Singh and Ima Panthoibi Huiyel Langlon Thang-Ta and Cultural Association, Utlou secretary Laishram Nehru Singh also attended the event as the guests of honour.

Students of Mangan Thang-Ta Lup also showcased various cultural performances during the event.
