Self-defence camp for girls concludes

A two-day self-defence programme for girl students organised by Women's Forum of Oriental College (Autonomous) concluded at its Takyelpat campus, on Tuesday.
The valedictory programme was attended by College principal Dr Ranjit Singh as chief guest and Forum chairperson I Ibeni Devi as functional president while All Manipur College Teachers' Association president M Lokendro Singh and IQAC co-ordinator Ch Somorendro Singh were present as guests of honour.
During the training programme attended by 160 girl students of the College, trainer and Young Talent State Kala Akademi awardee N Tombi Devi imparted lessons and presented demonstration on various self-defence techniques to the participants.
The Self-Defence Camp for girl students was organised as a part of the observance of the 84th Nupilal Ningshing Numit, which was held at the conference hall of the college.
During the formal observance, teaching staff and students paid floral tributes to the brave 'Imas' who revolted against the repressive policy of the then British rulers.
Apart from principal Dr Ranjit, L Ibeni Devi and Ch Somorendra, Oriental College Teachers' Association (OCTA) vice president M Lokenaro, Department of History assistant professor O Daniel also attended the event.
O Daniel also elaborated on Nupilal and its significance as a resource person, stating that the legacy of anti-colonial struggle specifically led by women in Manipur will remain unparalleled.
