IMD predicts more rain in next 7 days
Major rivers flowing above warning level

Even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rainfall across the North East including Manipur for the next 7 days, due to intermittent rainfalls in the last couple of days Nambul River and other rivers are flowing above the warning level at many places.
Light and moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm, lightning and isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall are likely over the North East India including Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram during the next seven days, said the IMD.
From 6 am to 6 pm today, Kangpokpi (Imphal River) received 4 mm of rainfall.
Saikul (Iril River) received 5 mm of rainfall.
Litan (Thoubal River) received 4 mm of rainfall.
Raj Bhavan and Lamphel received 3 mm of rainfall.
Meanwhile, the Nambul River was flowing at 782.775 metres, slightly above the flood level of 782.175 metres at 6 pm today at the Hump Bridge gauge site.
The Flood Level is a level above the Warning Level and one below the High Flood Level.
Fortunately, the water level of the river has been receding since the morning, showed a daily flood report, issued by the Water Resources Department.
At 6 am today, the Nambul River was flowing at 783 metres, about a metre above the Flood Level of 782.175 metres.
The water level receded to 782.925 metres at 10 am and further to 782.875 metres at 2 pm, before falling down to 782.775 metres at 6 pm.
Another river which was flowing above the flood level at 6 pm was the Nambol River.
At the Nambol bridge gauge site, the Nambol River was flowing at 773.900 metres above the flood level of 773.700 metres at 6 pm.
Fortunately, the water level had been receding slowly since the morning showed the flood report.
The river was flowing at 773.950 metres at 6 am.
Imphal River was flowing above the warning level but below the flood level at 786.225 metres at 6 pm at Minuthong gauge site.
The water at the Minuthong gauge too has been receding since the morning (786.450 metres at 6 am).
The same river water, on the other hand, at the Lilong gauge site increased from 779.750 metres at 6 am to 779.950 at 6 pm, but below the warning level of 780.350 metres.
The Iril River at Irilbung bridge gauge site was flowing at 783.725 metres below the warning level of 786.700 metres at 6 pm.
The Thoubal River at Thoubal bridge gauge site was flowing at 774.825 metres, below the warning level of 778.915 metres at 6 pm.
The Manipur River at the Ithai bridge gauge site was flowing at 786.560 metres, below the warning level of 769.280 metres at 6 pm.
Meanwhile, several houses at Mayang Imphal Konchak Makha Leikai have been flooded, and residents have urged the local MLA and the Government authorities for relief and assistance.
Speaking to reporters, RK Roben, a resident, said the locality faces flooding 2-3 times every year.
With most houses flooded, people are taking shelter in safer places.
However, many have fallen ill and they need medical assistance, he said.
He urged the locals and the authorities concerned to provide relief materials to the affected families in the locality.
