Imphal, April 22 2026:
The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has declared that all preparations have been completed for a huge mass protest on April 25, 2026 .
Saying that it has not lifted its boycott of BJP, COCOMI has also called upon all the people to protest the participation of the Chief Minister and MLAs at the Khongjom Day observation on April 23 .
Speaking to media persons at their Lamphelpat office this afternoon, COCOMI spokesman Nahakpam Shanta said that the incumbent Government has not been paying any heed to the people's voice rather it has been acting against the will of the people.
None of the demands raised by the people regarding the Tronglaobi killings have been fulfilled.
The Government has not yet clarified whether the UKNA cadres arrested by security forces were really involved in the Tronglaobi killings, or how they were involved, Shanta said.
The Government is not sharing any information with the public regarding the details of SoO camps, and whether all the weapons of SoO militants are in their designated camps.
The COCOMI spokesman said that the Government has not shared any report of the enquiry into the murder of two toddlers at Tronglaobi.
He pointed out that the Government has gone silent on its own assurance to rehabilitate IDPs by March 31 this year.
The Government is not saying anything on launching military operations in the hill areas to flush out narco-terrorists.
For all these reasons, COCOMI and the people have been protesting against the Government, the spokesman said.
He appealed to the people to line up along the roads leading to Khongjom on Thursday and shout slogans against the self-centred politicians.
Saying that COCOMI strongly condemned the incidents that took place at Wangjing on Tuesday, Shanta remarked it is a matter of shame that political activity is more important than the people's voice to a few people.
The handful of people who took part in the inauguration function of the Block Development Office at Wangjing cannot shape the future of Manipur, he asserted.
The excesses committed by Manipur Police and Central security forces during the inauguration function at Wangjing was a matter of grave concern, he said.
While many protesters were beaten up mercilessly and detained on the charge of pelting stones, security personnel were seen smashing CCTV cameras and parked vehicles, he said.
Yesterday, many parked vehicles were smashed by security forces at Wangjing, he said before asking the DGP and the SP concerned why no action has been initiated against the rogue police personnel, he said.
The COCOMI spokesman said that all the people need to stand together and fight collectively when the Government invokes several Acts to suppress the mass movement.
He called upon all the people to carry on the protest until the Government makes its position clear.
On being enquired about the Government's purported invitation to the COCOMI for a high-level talk which has gone viral on social media, the spokesman said that there is no communication between the Government and COCOMI.
"COCOMI feels that the Chief Minister is going on peace trips at personal level as he is not supported by the two Deputy Chief Ministers and his MLAs", he said.
COCOMI, being a conglomerate of several organisations, will first consult its consultative body, advisors and legal advisors before deciding on holding or not holding talks with the Government, he added.
