Senapati, July 18 2024:
The Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) has urged the State Government and the relevant authorities to remove the 'unauthorized' checkpoint at Gamgiphai, near Kanglatongbi immediately.
This checkpoint, operating for over a year, has caused significant inconveniences to commuters and undermines the rule of law, the student body said and questioned the alleged inaction of law enforcement agencies to address the issue, 'despite repeated appeals' .
It also said that the State police should ensure the safety and security of passengers and commuters and put an end to all forms of harassment and disturbances that had been going on for more than a year along the highway stretch for more than a year.
Earlier, SDSA had requested Kuki CSOs to dismantle all checkpoints along the highway, 'as they were targeting only Naga citizens' .
Unfortunately, no response came from Kuki CSOs and it compelled the SDSA to impose an economic embargo on Kuki people.
