Five MLAs in Delhi, others meet Governor

Imphal, April 17 2025:
While the Manipur Legislative Assembly continues to remain under suspended animation following the imposition of the President's Rule, five MLAs, including from the BJP, have reportedly been summoned to Delhi, while other party MLAs met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Thursday.
According to a source, MLAs Paonam Brojen (Wangjing Tentha), Th Radheshyam (Heirok), Sapam Nishikant (Keishamthong) and Dr Y Radheshyam (Hiyanglam) left Imphal on Wednesday, while Tongbram Rob-indro (Thanga) headed for Delhi on Thursday.
They were reportedly summoned to Delhi by central leaders.
However, one of the MLAs conveyed to The People's Chronicle that each of them is in Delhi for personal reasons.

Another BJP MLA conveyed to his daily that the central leaders have hinted at selecting a new chief minister and forming a new government in the state within this month (April).
The formation of the new government could be initiated after the appointment of a new BJP national president, the MLA further conveyed.
Meanwhile, MLAs Karam Shyam (Langthabal), RK Imo (Sagolband), Kh Ibomcha (Lamlai), Dinganglung Gangmei (Nungba) and Usham Deben (Wabagai) called on Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan on Thursday afternoon, a press release by the Governor's Secretariat informed.
During the meeting, the MLAs apprised the Governor on various issues of public interest.
However, a source said that the MLAs also urged for replacing the present chief secretary PK Singh, with another IAS officer.
Earlier, MLAs K Govindas (Bishnupur), L Susindro (Khurai), Th Shyamkumar (Andro) and Thongam Shanti (Moirang) met Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, and reportedly expressed frustration with the administrative situation in Manipur.
