Condemnation against Lilong incident unabated

Many continued to condemn the Lilong firing incident wherein five people were killed and several others got injured.
In separate releases, Delhi Association of Manipur Muslim Students (DAMMS), All Manipur Democratic Students' Organisation, All India Tanzeem-E-Insaaf (AITI) Manipur State Council, Haoreibi Apunba Lup.
and All Lilong Anti-Drug Association denounced the Lilong Changjao bring incident on New Year's Day.
The organisations also shared pain and grief of the bereaved families.
While contending that the incident stands testimony about breakdown in law and order mechanism in Manipur, they urged stakeholders concerned to contribute in resolving the issue without any bias.
The government also needs to do the needful to regain trust of the public through fast-track enquiry and timely delivery of justice.
Urging the government to look into state of lawlessness in the state, they maintained that the government as well as the group involved in the incident should be responsible for economic wellbeing of the victims' families as well as those injured and stressed the need for the government to establish Meitei-Pangal Protection Force to ensure safety of the minority community.
Calling upon the government to put in place appropriate measures for swift delivery of justice, they also exhorted for taking up measures for situational-establishment of an 'Emergency Help-Centre' for the people, handing-over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and preventing attempt to twist the unfortunate event into an 'Inter-Community' conflict.
Meanwhile, in separate press conferences held on Wednesday, Educational Guide Centre, Thoubal Moijing; United Development Committee; and All Sangaiyumpham Club/Organisation condemned the Lilong Chingjao incident and demanded arrest of the culprits and punish them stringently.
While appealing against repeating such incident in future and exhorting for communal harmony, they urged not to upload misleading posts on social media which can disrupt the relationship between the communities.
