AR pays homage; conducts friendly match, medical camp

Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) paid homage to the martyrs of Op Longpi-II at Somsai, Ukhrul on Wednesday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), riflemen (GD) Th Naba Kumar Singh, (GD) HN Gupching and (NA) Yogendra Singh made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty during Op Longpi-II on January 3, 2006.To pay homage to the martyrs, a wreath laying ceremony was organised at Somsai garrison, Ukhrul.
All present officers, JCOs and jawans paid tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives whilst being on line of duty.
Assam Rifles of IGAR (South), also organised a series of friendly volleyball matches that brought together seven villages on Wednesday with the participation of teams from Kovang, Wyang, Tuitong, Moljol, Galmol, Gamnom, and M Bijangphai as well as attendance of 115 villagers.
Friendly volleyball matches were also organised at Bongmol village, Chandel district, and Kwatha village, Tengnoupal district, on Tuesday which witnessed participation of 95 villagers.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles conducted an impactful Awareness Lecture on waterborne diseases at Zou Khunou, Churachandpur district on Wednesday to promote a healthy, disease-free, and progressive society.
Focusing on the prevention of waterborne diseases, the lecture emphasised the importance of simple precautionary measures.
With over 95 per cent of waterborne diseases being preventable, the event sought to educate women and children on various facets, types, and preventive measures.
Sixteen individuals actively participated in the lecture, highlighting the community's commitment to a healthier lifestyle.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles demonstrated a commitment to saving lives by providing life-saving medieal assistance to Master Afif, a 1-year-old facial burn victim from Kwakta village, Bishnupur district on Wednesday.
After a hot tea spillage incident, the child was rushed to the Unit hospital of 9 Assam Rifles, where immediate essential medical care stabilized his condition.
The parents expressed gratitude for the timely assistance that saved their child's life.
Assam Rifles of 1GAR (South), also organised a Medical Camp at Phaikoh and Shankalok Refugee camps, Kamjong district Wednesday.
The camp addressed the medical needs of underprivileged refugees from the border villages of Myanmar, providing thorough check-ups and necessary medical assis tance to 32 female refugees, including 12 pregnant women and eight infants.
Beyond medical aid, detailed guidance on daily precautions and routines essential for a healthy environment in the refugee camp was also provided.
