Manipur end campaign with 10 medals at Junior National Fencing Championship

Manipur added one gold medal and one bronze on the closing day of the 31st Junior National Fencing Championship held at Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
The state clinched the gold medal in the men's foil event.
The quartet of S Hemash, K Denny, K Abhinash and Kh Yaiphaba produced a stellar performance to emerge as the top-finishers in the men's foil contest, handing Manipur their fourth gold in the competition.
On the other hand, the women's sabre team of L Abi, Priya N, P Babydaina and P Sonia finished third in their event to settle for the bronze medal.
With the closing day's results, Manipur ended their campaign with four gold and six bronze medals.
Earlier, W Sonia won the gold medal in the women's individual foil event while K Denny made clinched the yellow metal in the men's foil event, and L Moranda claimed the top podium honour in the men's sabre event.
The other state fencers who bagged bronze medals in the individual competition were M Dollar (men's epee), L Abi (women's sabre) and S Hemash (men's foil).
In addition, the women's team comprising W Sonia, Alice, Daiyarani N and L Nirmala claimed bronze medal in the women's foil team event, and the men's team of Th Dingkiraj, Ton-donsana, K Kane and M Dollar got bronze in the epee event.
