Class IX above, colleges to be reopened

As the state has been witnessing significant improvement in Covid-19 situation, normal classes in schools and colleges for Class IX and above would commence soon with necessary arrangements for ensuring strict adherence to Covid-19 SOPs, said chief minister N Biren Singh.
He, however, mentioned that opening of schools for junior classes would be delayed for some more time as there is need for further assessment, Speaking while launching the face-to-face classes under Chief Minister's Civil Services Coaching Scheme (CMCS) 2021-22 at State Academy of Training, Takyelpat on Tuesday, CM Biren expressed that commencement of physical civil service coaching would enable hundreds of aspirants to have the same coaching facility here as in Delhi or other cities.

aspirants need not travel to other cities spending huge amount of money as the coaching is available in the state free of cost under this initiative of the state government, the Chief Minister said, during the programme organised jointly by Department of Higher Education, State Academy of Training and ALS Satellite Pvt Ltd.
Stating that it has been his long-cherished dream to introduce quality civil service coaching facility for the students of the state free of cost, N Biren commended ALS IAS Academy and its officials for making it possible.
The chief minister emphasised that youth of the state do not lack in talent and knowledge but they did not have adequate opportunity and proper guidance earlier.
Ever since the new state government was sworn in, it started applying mind to tap and groom these talents and started working on that line accordingly, he added.
N Biren also exhorted the aspirants present at the function not to get disheartened due to uncertainties in life and stated that life as well as politics has so many uncertainties.
However, one should continue working hard to achieve what they wish and do something for the nation and the state.
He also advised the students to have discipline in whatever they endeavour, stating that discipline is the foundation of success.
The CM also noted that though the government has provided mobile phones for online classes there are still some issues that need to be taken care of.
To join an Online class there should also be an internet connection.
He recalled that on Monday he received a WhatsApp message from a student in Kangpokpi requesting for internet recharge of his phone.
At first, he thought it was a joke, but on further investigation it was found out that the student had a genuine problem, so he brought him a one-year telecom plan.
Government will soon take some measures in this regard, he assured.
N Biren also reiterated his announcement of construction of an Olympic Park as well as erecting statue of 19 Olympians of the state in the park.
Education minister S Rajen Singh said that apart from infrastructure development works, the present government has done many unique things that the past governments did not.
The state government is equally concentrating on developing the future of the youth as there is no point in having good infrastructure if there is no future for the youth, he observed.
S Rajen also thanked chief minister Biren for conceptualising the IAS Coaching scheme with sanctioning of Rs 2.80 crore from the State Planning Department.
The minister said that civil service coaching would be conducted at State Academy of Training, Takyelpat for the time being.
However, it would be conducted soon in a permanent campus having quarters for faculties and staff and hostels for students at Taothong in Imphal West district.
Land for the construction of the complex had already been identified, he added.
Rajya Sabha MP and titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba, chief secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar, commissioner (Higher and Technical Education) M Harekrishna, director (Higher and Technical Education) Dr Rangitabali Waikhom, State Academy of Training director Letkhogin Haokip, ALS Satellite Pvt Ltd Director Jojo Mathew and others were present during the function.
In all, 200 aspirants, who have been selected for CMCS 2021-22, were also present at the programme.
