Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, January 03 2022: KANGPOKPI: Expressing concern over the spread of Omicron variant of Covid-19, Kangpokpi district deputy commissioner Somorjit Salam on Monday urged all to diligently follow precautionary measures and the government instructions on COVID-19 as he launched the COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 15-18 years on Monday.

Launching the vaccination drive for children at District Hospital Fixation site, Inspection Bungalow, the IAS officer appealed for increased public participation to achieve cent percent vaccination coverage to keep the virus away.

Somorjit launched the vaccination drive in the presence of Dr Lamkhoneng Haokip, CMO Kangpokpi, Dr I Touthang, DIO, DLOs, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kangpokpi, programme management staff, other health staff, and beneficiaries.

A-16-year old girl from Kangpokpi town was the first to administer the COVAXIN at the launching event where more than 17 children were also inoculated.

Somorjit said that Omicron cases were rising worldwide and a case of the new variant was also detected in the state, while appealing to all to wear face mask, maintain social distance, and get vaccinated.

The vaccination for children will be done at Inspection Bungalow for a week and extended to other health centres in the district after a week.

Dr Lamkhoneng Haokip, CMO Kangpokpi and Dr J Touthang, DIO/DNO Covid Vaccination, also spoke on the occasion.

THOUBAL: Covid-19 vaccination drive for children between 15-18 years of age was launched for Thoubal district by deputy commissioner Ahanthem Subash at Community Health Centre (CHC), Yairipok on Monday.

During the launch programme jointly organised by district administration and District Health Society, DC Subash informed that vaccination for individuals between 15 and 18 years are being carried at different vaccination sites.

Covaxin vaccines are being administered to the beneficiaries which is different from Covishield vaccine administered to the adult population in the previous vaccination drives, he said.

Beneficiaries vaccinated with Covaxin will be eligible to receive the second dose 28 days after the first dose, he added and urged for timely vaccination of individuals belonging to the age-group by visiting the vaccination centres being set up in the district.

The programme was also attended by Thoubal CMO Dr Y Nokul, District Family Welfare officer Dr Ksh Memcha Devi and other officials.

Vaccination certificates were also distributed to beneficiaries who received first dose on the launching day.

CCPUR: As elsewhere in the state, COVID-19 vaccination for children in the age group 15-18 years has been launched in Churachandpur district on Monday at District Immunization Centre (DIC) from 9am onwards.

The launch programme was attended by DC Churachandpur Pawan Yadav as chief guest, CMO Churachandpur Dr VC Pau as president and DI of schools (Churachandpur) Nangkhanlal as guest of honour.

Pawan Yadav formally launched the vaccination drive by administering vaccine to healthcare workers followed by frontline workers and finally to co-morbid patients.

Though large numbers of people have got vaccinated, many more need to be vaccinated and hence a more proactive step needs to be initiated, he said and expressed concern over increasing Omicron cases in Maharashtra and Delhi.

He then appealed to people to strictly follow SOPs and regularly wear face mask to stay safe from the contagion.

NONEY: Under the State Health Society, vaccination drive against Covid-19 for the age group of 15-18 years was launched for Noney and Tamen-glong districts on Monday organised by district administration and District Health Society, Noney and Tamenglong.

With the launch of vaccination progamme at CHC Kakching, the vaccination will be done at CHC Sugnu, Primary Health Centre Pallel, Hiyanglam, Kakching Khunou and Wangoi Laipham from Tuesday onwards, he continued, while adding that those who received the first dose of Covid vaccine will be administered the second dose after 28 days.
