Even as the controversy on appointment of Board of Directors of Imphal Urban Cooperative Bank (IUCB) has refused to die down, the newly Government appointed Board members including the new Chairman have assumed charge today.
The new Board of Directors formally submitted joining letters to the Registrar of Cooperative Societies yesterday.
Khumbongmayum Gojendro Singh of Sagolband Ingudam Leirak is the new Chairman and Deputy RCS officer of Registrar Cooperative Societies, Gurumayum Saratkumar Sharma of Khongman Mangjil and Thokchom Inaocha Singh of Lambal Makha Leikai are the Board members.
No staff was present in the bank when the newly appointed Board members reach the bank to assume charge at around 10 am today.
The offices of the Chairman of Board of Directors and General Manager of the bank were found locked.
However, on hearing the news, personnel of City police station arrived in the bank and broke the locks.
Later, speaking to reporters in his office chamber, Chairman Khumbongmayum Gojendro said that Cooperative Societies Manipur Registrar Thaithuilung Pamei on July 9 quashed the resolution of the representatives general body meeting held on June 30 by issuing an order.
The new Board of Directors has been appointed by Deputy Secretary Cooperative on July 26 .
Saying that it is unfortunate to hinder the the smooth functioning of the bank by some people, the new Chairman urged the share holders and bank staff to cooperate with the new Board members in the development and smooth running of the bank.
