Rupmahal Tank Welfare Association and Manipur Chemists and Druggists Association (MCDA) have spelt out the inconveniences they have to face due to the restrictions in movement during the ongoing Assembly session.
This has inconvenienced many people who are engaged in various trades in and around Rupmahal Tank area.
Pointing out that restriction on entry of people and goods inside the area have affected the livelihood of many people, the two Associations have also decided to seek legal assistance if the situation remains the same.
Addressing a joint press conference at Hotel Khristina today, general secretary of MCDA Dr RK Ratankumar informed that 30 pc of the godowns where medicines are stored are located at Rupmahal Tank area.
However, removal or storing of medicines in these godowns have been stopped as a result of the restrictions.
Those who are operating pharmacies.
Moreover, general public are also being deprived of getting the required medicines in time, he added.
Secretary in-charge of Rupmahal Tank Welfare Association K Angouba Sharma asserted that the ongoing Assembly session has curtailed the rights of around 5000 people including families who are staying in rent and those who are running shops and beauty parlours in Rupmahal Tank area.
Decrying restriction on entry of people in the area , Angouba observed that the ongoing Assembly session is like a blockade to these people.
He also informed that the matter had already been highlighted to the Chief Minister through a memorandum on July 24 .
