The Union Home Ministry has approved setting up of anti-human trafficking units in five districts of the State.
Each of these units will function in the line of a police station.
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, a top official of the State Home Department said that vthe five anti-human trafficking units would be set up in Imphal, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Churachandpur and Senapati.
Along with forming dedicated teams, each of these units would be run like a police station.
The matter has been discussed during a meeting presided over by Chief Secretary today.
DGP, Commissioner (Home) and officials of Social Welfare and Health and Family Welfare were also present during the meeting.
In connection with setting up of these units, the DGP is expected to issue a notification very soon.
Social Welfare and Health & Family Welfare Departments will post the designated employees in these units and the infrastructural requirements would be taken care of by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
