Training programme on 'Prison HIV Intervention' held at Sajiwa Jail

Imphal, May 25 2026:
A one-day onsite training programme under the Prison HIV Intervention Programme was held today at the Multipurpose Hall of Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa.
The programme was organised by the Nirvana Foundation in collaboration with Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa, with support from the Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS).
The training, attended by 55 participants, aimed to strengthen the capacity of prison officials and staff to ensure the sustainability of HIV intervention efforts inside the jail.
Attendees included officials from the MACS Prevention Division, DACO Imphal East, SNO-NVHCP Manipur, prison staff, and members of Nirvana Foundation.

Dignitaries on the dais were SP (Prison) Syed Abdul Samad, MACS DD-Prevention Dr Joyson, DACO Imphal East Dr KC Luwang, SNO-NVHCP Dr RK Rosie, Jail MO Dr Moirangthem Amarjit, and Nirvana Foundation secretary Sobhana Sorokhaibam, who also delivered the keynote address.
Syed Abdul Samad gave an overview of the jail, while Dr Joyson outlined MACS initiatives on HIV intervention.
Dr Amarjit spoke on ongoing HIV activities within the prison.
Dr KC Luwang conducted a session on HIV/AIDS basics, prevention, care, and support services.
Dr RK Rosie shared updates on Hepatitis B and C treatment and management.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Y Tomba.
