BJP synonymous with innovation, integration: JP Nadda
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, December 24 2021: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda said that the present government led by BJP in the state has brought "innovation, infrastructure and integration" by removing the previous Congress government's "instability, insurgency and inequality".

Referring to the decades-old Ima Market, Nadda said that Manipur is a great example of women empowerment in the country and India is seeing new height of women empowerment under the BJP government.

Attending an election campaign held at Bijoygovindaji ground under Sagolband assembly constituency on Friday, the BJP chief said that women in the state used to spend sleepless night until their husbands, sons and brothers return home.

However, the BJP government has brought significant improvement in the law-and-order situation and the people are now getting good night's sleep.

Nadda claimed that fear had been dispelled from among the people in Manipur by the BJP helmed government of N Biren Singh.

The Biren Singh government has allayed the fear that was prevalent among the people of the state, he said.

"There was an atmosphere of fear in the state.

A mother used to fear whether her son would be able to return to the state and a sister did not know whether her brother would return or not.

Now, there is no fear after the BJP-led government came to power.

"I now see a new Manipur which has progressed due to the power of women.

Manipur and women empowerment are strongly connected.

The happiness index of women is manifested when they participate in various programmes in large numbers," Nadda said.

The Centre has given priority to the development in the state with about 300 projects being taken up and 30 of them are under construction.

Railway infrastructure too is being strengthened.

He said women in Manipur have been frontrunners in sports, freedom movement and literature.

Their participation in every field is immense, he said.

Referring to BJP Manipur Pradesh president Adhikarimayum Sharda, Nadda said that women's development in the state is taking place under the leadership of women.

Women in Manipur have been the frontrunners in sports, freedom movement and literature, he said, adding that the state's Olympic medallist and six-time world champion boxer MC Mary Kom, Tokyo Games silver medallist Mirabai Chanu and other women sports personalities have brought glory to the country.

Nadda also hailed the Biren government for improving the sex ratio in the state through effective implementation of 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' programme.

Rs 6000 cash assistance is provided to women, who deliver girl child in hospital under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Van-danaYojana.

Construction of toilets and provision of LPG connections have also improved women's health and status, he contended.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appointed India's first women Defence, Education, External Affairs and Finance ministers.

At present, there are 12 women ministers in the union cabinet of Modi government.

The BJP government always gives top priority to women's empowerment in India.

The Centre had announced 33 per cent reservation for women in the CISF and other paramilitary forces, Nadda maintained.

Highlighting the developmental projects undertaken by the Centre and the state government for all-round development of Manipur, the BJP leader said that nearly 330 projects including widening of NH 37 are being taken up while railway infrastructure is being extended up to the capital city Imphal.

Nadda said that India's first sports university being set up in the state would be the corridor of eastern India.

He added that PM Modi visited the region 50 times in the past seven years to take forward the north eastern region on priority.

Manipur government headed by Chief Minister N Biren has established peace.

Earlier, during the Congress government, blockades continued for months and year after year, but today there is no blockade and fear among the people," Nadda said and adding: "Nearly 1,039 militants surrendered and as part of the crusade against drugs, 11,600 acres of land was made free from the cultivation of various drugs".

In his address, CM Biren said that law and order situation has improved under the BJP-led government and people no longer have the constant fear that marked the Congress rule.

Earlier, poor families faced immense hardships whenever one of their family member falls ill but today, they are getting hospitalisation assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh a year under CMHT and Rs 5 lakh a year under PMA-JAY schemes, he said while calling for public support to bring about BJP only government.

Addressing the gathering, BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda appealed to the public to support BJP so that the party could win absolute majority by winning 40 plus seats in the 2022 state assembly election.

To lead the BJP's campaign ahead of the ensuing Assembly elections, the BJP national president has visited Manipur multiple times during the past three months.

Elections to the 60-seat Manipur Assembly are likely to be held in February-March 2022 along with the Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Goa.

BJP Manipur in-charge Sambit Patra, BJP North East in-charge Ajay Jamwal, works minister Th Biswajit, CAF&PD minister Th Satyabrata, Rajya Sabha MP and titular king of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba, Sagolband MLA RK Imo, Wangkhei MLA Y Erabot and other party leaders also attended the campaign.

JP Nadda also took part in BJP mandal meetings held at Khurai Sajor Leikai and Kwakeithel Haorakchambi along with CM Biren, minister Th Biswajit, A Sharda, party leaders, and five representatives each of mandal.

The BJP chief, who arrived here in a chartered flight around noon, returned to the national capital around 7.30 pm in the same flight.
