Kakching, May 06 2025:
A district-level meeting of the District e-Governance Society (DeGS), Kakching, was held on Tuesday at the NIC Conference Hall, DC Office Complex, here.
Chairing the meeting Kakching deputy commissioner Rohit Anand emphasised the importance of adopting the e-Office system across the district and directed the relevant officials to prioritise its implementation.
He also instructed the Department of Information Technology (DIT) to organise training programmes on e-Office for District Level Officers (DLOs).
He highlighted that the e-Office platform is expected to significantly improve administrative efficiency, transparency, and accountability, while also streamlining workflows, minimising paper usage, and enhancing data security and integrity.
Officials were further urged to review the current status of State Wide Area Network (SWAN) connections, particularly in areas such as Pallel, Sugnu, and Serou, and ensure that connectivity is in place and functioning effectively.
The key focus areas of the meeting included discussions on the implementation and progress of the SWAN initiative, the e-District programme, and the BharatNet Project.
Notably, under the BharatNet Project, BSNL has established 586 connections in the district to date.
The BharatNet initiative, launched by the Department of Telecommunications in 2011, is India's flagship programme to deliver high-speed broadband access to Gram Panchayats and villages across the country.
