Achievers, meritorious students felicitated

Reinforcing efforts to encourage youth and academic excellence, three separate felicitation programmes were held in Imphal to honour meritorious students and achievers.
Neinasang Club organised its 20th Felicitation of Meritorious Students & Achievers 2026 at its hall in Sagolband Tera Loukrakpam Leikai.
During the event, five achievers received cash awards, certificates, and mementoes.
They are Nonika Ayekpam (Class X-BOSEM, Ratankumar Memorial School), Valentina Thangjam (Class X-CBSE, Kindergarten Montessori School), Richa Devi Soraisam (Class XII-COHSEM, - Heritage Convent), Samurailatpam Shruti (Class XII-CBSE, Kendriya Vidyalaya Langjing), and Wushu player Khoirom Raj shree, who secured 3rd position in Taolu at the HYX Oceania International Invitational Wushu Kungfu 2026 held in Australia.
Students scoring above 60% were also given mementoes, certificates, and cash.
Additionally, 21 pupils of Ibemcha Primary School received notebooks.
In another function, Youth Development Organisation held its 35th Annual Prize Distribution cum Meritorious Scholarship Award 2026 at Lainingthou Moriba Community Hall.
Dr S Ibomcha, Commandant, 6th IRB, YDO president H Indrakumar, K Munindro, P Biren, and P Dhiren attended as presidium members.
A total of 22 Class XII and 16 Class X students received certificates and cash awards.
Indrakumar said the scholarship, presented for 35 years, aims to produce capable citizens and pledged to continue it.
Meanwhile, at Awangkhunou, Ibudhou Puthiba Awangkhunou Development Committee organised a felicitation for students who excelled in this year's Class X and XU exams conducted by BOSEM, COHSEM, and CBSE, along with sportspersons who earned honours at national and international levels.
Speaking at the event, Lamshang AC MLA Sorokhaibam Rajen said Government teachers must first correct their own shortcomings, especially their reluctance to work sincerely.
Rajen stressed the need to strengthen Government schools so parents are not compelled to choose private institutions.
He urged full implementation of NEP 2020 to impart skills alongside academics.
"If we guide the younger generation properly, a better society can be built", he said, encouraging students to become self-reliant entrepreneurs instead of relying solely on government jobs, which would improve the economy.
