Minor electrocuted

In a tragic incident, a 13 year old girl was electrocuted at Thanga Samukol under Keibulamjao Police Station in Bishnupur district yesterday evening.
The deceased girl has been identified as Ngathem Princess Devi, daughter of Ngathem Kiran.
It has been reported that Princess was electrocuted when she slipped from a mango tree beside her house and fell on a live electric wire left for earthing purposes by staff of the Electricity Department.
Princess's elder sister Livia who witnessed the scene, ran and informed her uncle that Princess had been electrocuted and her uncle found Princess with her legs burnt at the site.
Subsequently she was taken to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Thanga but was referred to a hospital with better facilities.
Accordingly she was taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) Moirang but she was declared dead by the doctor at the CHC.
In view of this incident, the bereaved family of Princess and the locals expressed discontentment over safety guidelines by the staff of MSPDCL in connection with the earthing process.
The electrocution of Princess has caused anxiety in the locality and the households where earthing has been done.
