Students demand clarification from Govt

Demanding the State Govemment to clarify if any higher education institutes will offer the 4th year (7th & 8th semester) for UG programmes as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, students staged a protest demonstration in front of Imphal College today.
Speaking to media persons, a protestor Janat Laishram said that students are in a state of confusion as they have been left in a limbo without any information of whether any educational institutions in the State will offer the 7th and 8th semesters of the 4-year undergraduate programme under NEP 2020.He urged the State Government to shed light on the matter and clarify if the 7th and 8th semester courses will be offered at any colleges/universities.
Stating that the State Government should take necessary steps to save the academic career of the students, Janat Laishram said, "If the NEP 2020 has been implemented in the State, the Government should ensure all the required facilities are provided to the students".
At the protest, the students shouted slogans and displayed placards wife fee writings such as, "Save Student, Save College", "Save Academic Career of Students", "Replace irresponsible Commissioner/Director/Official/Principal", etc.
