Both sports and education should be highlighted equally in GTV camp, says Shyamkumar

Forest and Environment Minister Thounaojam Shyamkumar attended the 'Khungang Chatse - Go to Village' Mission, organised by Distinct Administration Imphal East at the Panam Ningthou Garden, Andro, Imphal East today.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Shyamkumar said the Mission is a platform Where Government officials, apart from delivering welfare services to beneficiaries, interact and exchange ideas with public to enhance the services and build a healthy relation between the two.
He highlighted that most of the people of Andro Assembly Constituency are facing problems in availing the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G) scheme, which is a Central flagship programme to provide houses to all by 2022.Many beneficiaries are unable to reap the benefits as they do not have land deeds (patta).
The Minister stated that in Andro, the village headman (King) allots land to a person which is the main reason why many are unable to apply for the scheme.
He opined the need for a mechanism to acquire the land deed (patta) by abiding the customary law and traditions.
Shyamkumar further said that, as the primary occupation of the Andro; people is agriculture, many locals have queries on fertilisers.
He advised the people to contact the Department concerned to solve such issues.
Appreciating the people of Andro for making the area environment friendly, Shyamkumar said he is concerned that the Baruni Hill range facing Imphal has minimum green cover while the hill range on the Andro is covered with greenery.
He urged the people of Andro to plant more trees as the impact of global warming is dangerous.
He said the Forest and Environment Department is committed to increase the green covers in the State and to combat global warming.
He advised the District Administration Imphal East to include Sports Department in the next Go To Village camp as people of Andro are mainly sports lovers.
He stated that sports and education go hand in hand which is why both the departments should be given equal importance.
He appealed to the people to cooperate with the Department officials for smooth functioning of the camp.
All together more than 20 Departments/offices stalls were opened in the camp.
Departments of Revenue, DIO/NIC, Social Welfare, Health, Power/MSPDCL, CAF & PD, Agriculture, Education, Bank, PHED, Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Forest, MOBC, Minor Irrigation, IOC, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Fishery, Election, MAHUD, Sericulture, Commerce and Industries, Home/Aadhar, CADA among others opened their stalls and provided benefits under various schemes/ programs under the Department concerned.
Officials of the District Administration Imphal East led by Elangbam Sonia, SDO.
Keirao Bitra supervised the camps and guided the people of the Andro to avail the benefits of various schemes/programs.
On the other hand, several beneficiaries availed different service during Go to Village Mission camp, organised by District Administration Imphal West at Samurou Awang Leikai Community Hall under Wangoi Assembly Constituency.
The camp organised especially for people residing in Samurou Municipal Council area was attended by MLA of Wangoi AC O Lukhoi, Imphal West DC N Prabin, Samurou Municipal Council Chairperson Longjam Jamuna and former MLA Salam Joy attended the event as dignitaries.
Chief guest of the event O Lukhoi distributed gas connection under Ujjwala scheme to beneficiaries and presented school uniforms with books to students of the area.
A painting competition was also held as part of the event and a total of 22 stalls for different Govt Departments were opened at the camp.
CM gi Hakshelgi Tengbang card, weavers card, sprayers, water pumps, fish foods were also distributed to beneficiaries during the Go to Village Mission camp.
