NPP condemn raid on Phuzathang's residence

The National People's Party Manipur has condemned the police raid in early hours of August 19 at the residence of their National vice-president, Phungzathang Tonsing.
The party has demanded that immediate action be taken against the police officials involved in the raid which it said was conducted "without any warrant" .
A statement issued by Thangminlen Kipgen, president NPP Manipur said the raid was "unwarranted and illegal intended to tarnish the personal image" of its senior functionary .
The police personnel kicked the doors and created a "very unwanted scene", reigning chaos in the house as well as in the locality, it said adding it was the second time police has raid his residence.
The first was conducted during the last Assembly election, it said.
Phungzathang have meanwhile alleged that his house was raided on a "false pretext" with allegation that he was harbouring an individual who have circulated fake condolence message for which some people have filed an FIR with the police.
