Moreh, February 20 2024:
Meitei Council Moreh (MCM) called on Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), Major General Ravroop Singh and held discussions on the prevailing situation at Moreh and the inability of the displaced Meiteis to return to their home at the border town.
Moreh has been on the boil since violence broke out in Churachandpur on May 3 last displacing all the Meitei residents from the bordertown with some State police personnel including SDPO Anand Kumar being killed whilst on duty.
During the interaction, Major General Ravroop told the MCM team that there can't be peace at Moreh as long as Meiteis can't return to their home.
Saying that a dialogue among different CSO leaders is necessary to work out a solution, Major General Ravroop continued that they will do whatever they can to restore normalcy at Moreh.
