Senapati, May 18 2026:
The Senapati District students' Association (SDSA) has strongly denied allegations linking the organisation to the alleged stopping and detention of civilians at Senapati, terming the claims baseless and defamatory.
Speaking in an interview, SDSA vice-president MK Digabou Jacob stated that neither the student body nor any of its members were involved in stopping or detaining civilians.
He said various SDSA units had already issued statements expressing resentment and condemnation over attempts to unnecessarily drag the association's name into the incident despite certain groups openly claiming responsibility themselves.
To the point if the SDSA would support an independent investigation to establish the truth, Jacob stated that the student body welcomes any fair and impartial investigation to establish the truth.
He continued that an FIR has already been lodged regarding the defamatory allegations made against the office of SDSA and its members.
Clarifying its position on the matter, the vice-president stated that SDSA has no organisational linkage or coordination with the Naga Village Volunteers Northern Command or any other group connected to the alleged detention.
He maintained that SDSA functions independently within its constitutional responsibilities as the apex student and intellectual body of the district.
Appealing for restraint, Jacob urged all concerned not to spread unverified information or provocative narratives that could further aggravate tensions on the ground.
