Imphal, October 11 2010:
A man and his son sustained serious injuries when they were hacked by a big knife following a quarrel over an embankment on the river bank at Khurai Konsam Leikai under Porompat police station.
The incident occurred last night.
Fifty-five year old Chanambam Bheigo running a hotel in his locality at Konsam Leikai and his 15-year old son, Chaoba, have been admitted at JNIMS Hospital.
They were originally from Cachar and staying there.
They sustained injuries in the foreheads and backs when one Wahengbam Rajen (45) son of Indramani of the same locality hacked them with a big knife.
He committed the crime on the night of October 9 over a quarrel over the dismantling of a wall of Bheigo's hotel standing on the bank of Imphal river.
Report said that yesterday evening Rajen along with five local friends came to the house of Bheigo and hacked him and his son with a big knife and left without saying anything.
They came in a Maruti car and a Yamaha motorcycle, local reports said.
Porompat police have registered a case and have started an investigation into the matter.
They are searching for the accused, who is still at large.
