Mishap claims one, JAC resolves not to claim body

Thoubal, March 20 2025: In an unfortunate accident, a road mishap on Wednesday night claimed a man after he was knocked down by an unknown vehicle at Uchiwa Thambal Houbi.

The accident took place at around 8 pm.

The deceased victim has been identified as Asem Maimu Singh, 51 years of Thoubal Leishangthem Wangmataba.

Maimu driving a two wheeler (Honda Activa) was knocked down by the unknown vehicle while returning home after dropping his daughter at a marriage ceremony in Yangdong, Kakching.

Mayang Imphal police has registered a case in this connection and deposited the mortal remains of Asem Maimu at RIMS Hospital Mortuary for post mortem examination.

Meanwhile, a JAC has been formed in connection with the alleged hit and run case of Asem Maimu, and appointed T Momocha as the convenor of the JAC.

Speaking to the media persons, L Suresh, member of JAC stated that the JAC has resolved to not claim the mortal remains of Asem Maimu Singh, unless the alleged culprit involved in the hit and run case of Maimu is booked.
