Kangpokpi, July 16 2026:
In a significant outreach aimed at bridging the healthcare gap in Manipur's remote hill region, the 112 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), in collaboration with the Kangpokpi District Health Society under the National Health Mission (NHM), organised a comprehensive day-long medical camp at T Waichong village along the IT Road on July 12, benefiting around 250 villagers from far-flung areas.
The initiative brought specialist healthcare services to one of the district's underserved regions, where residents often face severe challenges in accessing timely medical treatment due to poor road connectivity and limited health infrastructure.
A six-member team of doctors, including specialists from the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), conducted health check-ups, consultations and treatment.
The team included Chief Medical Officer, Kangpokpi, Dr Paokai Kipgen; District Hospital Kangpokpi Medical Superintendent Dr Pilhing Misao; Medical Officer-in-Charge of PHC Waichong Dr Jangkhogin Kipgen; and 112 BN CRPF doctors Dr Umashankar Verma (CMO-SG) and Dr Durgesh Dhote (Asst Commandant/Medical Officer), assisted by nursing and paramedical staff.
Free medicines were distributed to patients during the camp.
Officials said the initiative was organised to ensure quality healthcare reaches vulnerable communities living in geographically isolated areas by bringing diagnostic and clinical services directly to their doorstep.
Villagers expressed gratitude to the CRPF and the Kangpokpi District Health Society for the outreach programme, saying it provided timely medical assistance and addressed a long-standing need for accessible healthcare service.
