Moirang, July 06 2023:
The Moirang Apunba Meira Paibi Lup (MAMPIL) has asked whether the ongoing violence in Manipur which is entering its third month is the making of the BJP Governments at the Centre and the State to oppress the people of Manipur.
Speaking to the media at Moirang Lamkhai, MAMPIL president K Padamo said that womenfolk from different places under Moirang Municipal Council and Thanga and Kumbi have been staying day and night at Moirang Lamkhai to prevent the movement of Assam Rifles and miscreants to de-escalate the tension.
Saying that they also detained a team of Kumaon Regiment from crossing Moirang Lamkhai areas today at around 10 am, she continued that the Central force requested the womenfolk to let them pass for about an hour.
Padamo further stated that a team of Bishnupur also arrived at the area and told them that the Central force was to head to Kwakta to monitor the construction of the shelter home of the displaced people.
She said that the replies given by the Central force and State police for the movement however were poles apart and as such made the team of Kumaon Regiment take a u-turn.
The Meitei people no longer trust the Central security forces deployed in the State, she said and claimed that the support given by all the Central security forces to Kuki militants is becoming more evident day by day.
"At first we thought it is only the Assam Rifles which support the Kuki militants but it turns out the motives of all the Central forces are the same," she claimed and appealed to the Government to deploy State forces instead to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
