Bunkers dismantled, arms & ammos recovered

Combined teams of state police and central forces destroyed several bunkers built in Kangpokpi, Imphal West and Imphal East districts on Thursday.
The combined forces also recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition.
According to a report, a combined team of Patsoi Police, Imphal West District Commando, 4/4 GR, 170/C BSF Battalion and 33 AR along with support of local villagers destroyed bunkers built at Moidangpok Khunou and Moidangpok Khunjao, in the presence of Imphal West duty magistrate, from 9 am till 1.10 pm Thursday.
Meanwhile, as per a press note released by the Police Control Room of Manipur Police, combined teams of state police and central forces conducted search operation in the vulnerable and fringe areas of both the hill and valley districts.
On Thursday, 24 bunkers were destroyed in Imphal East, Kangpokpi and Imphal West districts.
On Wednesday, unknown miscreants burned down the counter of LNC & Sons Oil Pump, which was already vandalised earlier at Sekmai Pangaltabi.
Police and central forces immediately rushed to the spot and dispersed the mob, while fire services helped control the fire from causing further damage.
Meanwhile, one misfired 51mm mortar shell was found in the paddy field of Phayeng on Wednesday, which was detonated safely by the bomb disposal team of Manipur Police.
On the other hand, combined team of Imphal East district police, Assam Rifles and BSF conducted search operation at Purum Hill from 10 am to 2pm Wednesday, in which seven bunkers used by Kuki miscreants were destroyed.
The team also recovered five arms, five HE hand grenades and 71 rounds of ammunition from Leitanpokpi foothills.
The press note continued that about 125 checkpoints are installed in different hill and valley districts of the state.
Police detained 352 people in connection with violations in different districts on Thursday.
The Police Control Room then appealed to the general public to extend all possible help in bringing normalcy in the state, to clarify any rumour by dialling rumour free number - 9233522822 of Central Control Room and also to return and deposit arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or security forces immediately.
