Bishnupur, July 06 2023:
Former MLA of Moirang Assembly Constituency P Sharatchandra Singh, IAS (retd) in association with Team Sharatchandra distributed aid in the form of breakfast items to the roughly 1000 inmates at Moirang College and Moirang Konjengbam Leikai Community Hall relief camps today.
During the relief initiative where the former MLA's team enquired after the living conditions and hardships faced by the people, the inmates of Moirang College relief camp painted a grim picture of life in the camp.
They shared that their meals are prepared at Ebudhou Thangjing Laikon which is located half a kilometre away.
Meals for inmates of other camps, totalling about 2000 are prepared there.

The inmates fetch their meals from Ebudhou Thangjing Laikon daily but with the onset of the rainy season this task has become difficult.
Stating that they have never had lunch before 12 noon, the inmates further conveyed anguish that their children and elderly seniors go without any food until lunch time.
Thus, the inmates expressed heartfelt gratitude upon receiving the breakfast items.
The inmates also appealed for the ingredients and necessary items for cooking to be made available at the camp so that they can prepare their own meals instead of fetching them from half a kilometre away.
In this regard, the campers urged the camp organisers, former MLA P Sharatchandra and Team Sharatchandra to heed the people's appeal.
Separately, Anganwadi workers and helpers from 25 Anganwadi Centres of Kakyai Sector under ICDS Project Bishnupur extended relief materials to the inmates of SAI Complex Utlou relief camp today.
An unnamed Anganwadi worker questioned how long these displaced families can remain in relief centres without any permanent solution in sight.
Highlighting the suffering of the young children and students in particular, she made an earnest appeal to the Central and State Government to resolve the conflict at the earliest.
Further, she assured that aid will be extended to relief camps in the future too.
