Attack on principal leaves 11 injured, Rs 43 lakh in damages

The Lilong Haoreibi College has filed a complaint with Lilong Police Station accusing four members of Lilong Haoreibi College Students' Union of physically attacking the principal in an alleged attempt on his life and causing injuries to eleven others around 11:40 am today.
According to the LHC's complaint filed by Fm Mustafiz Khan, Guest Faculty and Exam Invigilator, the four have been identified as Md Amir Hussain, Social & Culture Secretary, Lilong Haoreibi College Students' Union (LHCSU); Umar Hamza, Finance Secretary, LHCSU; Zaheer Abbas, Debate & Extension Secretary, LHCSU and Md Mubin Magazine Secretary, LHCSU.
The eleven persons who sustained injuries during the attack are staff members, teachers, alumni and others.
The four also allegedly vandalized the principal's office and caused damages worth around Rs 43,76,000 during the reported attack which occurred during the ongoing BA/BSc 1st Semester Practical Examinations under Manipur University.
Another complaint filed by Dr Ng Pikeshwor Singh, Assistant Professor & Invigilator of Exam with Lilong Police Station has revealed that one student, namely, Md Aziz Khan, self-identified as the younger brother of the aforementioned Md Amir Hussain, was found impersonating his older brother during the ongoing exam today.
He was expelled for appearing the exam on behalf of his older brother and was subsequently handed over to Lilong PS for further action.
Reportedly, the attack on the principal occured only a few minutes after his expulsion.
According to the complaint, Md Aziz Khan had impersonated his older brother on two more occasions in the ongoing exam.
LHC has appealed to Lilong PS to lodge an FIR in this connection and also take necessary actions against the concerned persons.
