Media sensitization programme on "TB Elimination" held

As part of 100-days Intensified Campaign on TB Elimination, District Health Society, Thoubal in collaboration with National TB Elimination Programme, Thoubal organised a media sensitization programme on TB elimination at District TB Centre, CMO Complex, Thoubal Wangmataba today.
The event was attended by various media persons of the district and staff of District TB Centre.
Speaking at the occasion, Thongam Stephee, District Co-ordinator of National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) highlighted the role of the media in educating the masses about Tuberculosis (TB) to achieve the desired goal of eliminating TB from the country by 2025.Stating that early diagnosis and timely medication can cure TB, she urged the people to avail the schemes launched by the Government for TB patients to make a TB free society.
District TB Officer, Dr Yumnam Shameen stated that during the 100-days campaign on TB Elimination in Thoubal district, awareness on TB was reached out to 31,000 TB vulnerable individuals.
Out of this 3000 individuals were conducted TB tests in which 14 were found out to be TB patients.
And 1300 persons were tested for CY-TB infection test, said Shameen.
The programme was also attended by Soibam Binoy, president of Thoubal District Working Journalist's Union.
