PM KISAN Diwas observed across state

Imphal, August 02 2025:
A total of Rs 18,09,88,000 would be distributed to around 74,963 farmers of Manipur via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) as part of the 20th instalment of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana, informed Agriculture director Peter Salam.
On Saturday, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, and its constituent Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), observed PM Kisan Diwas at its Lamphelpat campus in commemoration of the 20th instalment of PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi Yojana.
Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla virtually participated in the event as the chief guest with NEH Region Manipur Centre HoRC Dr Ch Basudha Devi as president.
The event was also attended by principal secretary (Agriculture) Arun Kumar Sinha and secretary to the Governor Sumant Singh, along with other officials.
In his speech as special guest, Central Agricultural University (CAU) Imphal vice chancellor Dr Anupam Mishra described the event as a significant milestone in the nations agricultural journey.

He stated that the celebration reflected a deep commitment to farmer welfare, which serves as a cornerstone for national prosperity.
He acknowledged the visionary leadership of PM Narendra Modi, under whose direction the PM-KISAN Yojana, which was launched in 2019, has grown into one of the largest DBT schemes in the world.
With the disbursement of the 20th instalment, Rs 20,500 crore will be credited directly to the bank accounts of over 9.7 crore farmers across the country, thereby ensuring transparency and eliminating any role of middlemen, he added.
Dr Anupam then emphasised that the scheme is more than just financial assistance.
It stands as recognition of the tireless efforts, resilience, and invaluable contribution of the farming community.
He remarked that the scale, transparency, and efficiency of the programme exemplify the principle of minimum government and maximum governance, ensuring that no deserving farmer is left behind.
He noted that features like timely SMS alerts, KYC compliance, and land record verification showcases the government's strong commitment to accountability and inclusive agricultural development.
According to him, PM-KISAN has become a lifeline for small and marginal farmers, enabling them to invest in quality inputs, adopt improved practices, and address critical needs.
Speaking as the guest of honour, CAU Imphal Extension Education director Prof Ph Ranjit Sharma described the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi Yojana as a significant opportunity for the farming community, particularly in the north-eastern region.
He noted that many farmers in the area, including those associated with Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) have benefitted from the scheme.
He encouraged wider participation as the 20th instalment is rolled out.
He urged all eligible farmers to take advantage of the government's continued efforts to support and empower rural agriculture.
PM KISAN Yojana state nodal officer and Agriculture director Peter Salam informed that as part of the 20th instalment under the scheme, a total of Rs 18,09,88,000 is being disbursed to 74,963 beneficiaries in Manipur, further strengthening support to the state's farming community.
So far, around Rs 987 crores have been distributed to the farmers of the state.
Farmers intending to register for this scheme need to submit copies of their Aadhaar, land deed and farmer card online or at the nearest office, he conveyed.
Launched in February 2019, the PM-KISAN scheme is a centrally sponsored initiative aimed at supporting the financial needs of land-holding farmers.
Under this scheme, farmers receive Rs 6,000 annually, disbursed in three equal instalments directly into their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts via the DBT system, he stated.
As part of the national observance, the live broadcast of PM's address and the official release of the 20th instalment under the PM-KISAN scheme were screened from the venue in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, allowing participants to witness the event in real time.
The event also featured distribution of agricultural inputs to selected beneficiaries and interaction between scientists and farmers.
The Department of Agriculture in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendras.(KVKs) of each district also observed organised PM-KISAN Diwas across the state.
KVK Imphal East (Andro), CAU Imphal and District Agriculture Office Porompat jointly observed the Diwas at district level at District Agriculture Office (DAO) Porompat on Saturday.
The observance was attended by Imphal East ADM Rk Dayananda; CAU Extension Education deputy director Prof Th Robindro Singh; KVK Imphal East head and senior scientist Dr Y Prabhabati Devi and DAO Porompat Ph Premila Devi as presidium members.
As part of the observance, the PM's address and the official release of the 20th instalment of PM-KISAN scheme were live broadcast, followed by distribution of agriculture inputs to the farmers.
The PM-KISAN Diwas was also observed by KVK Utlou Bishnupur at its campus on Saturday.
The observance was attended by DC Bishnupur Pooja Elangbam as chief guest and former union minister and KVK Utlou chairman Padmashri Th Chaoba Singh as president, while KVK Utlou Bishnupur District senior scientist and head Dr Kh Brajamani Meetei, DAO Bishnupur H Manihar Singh, and District Horticulture & Soil Conservation Officer Bishnupur S Sushila Chanu were guests of honour.
