CoTU wants more security force

The Committee on Tribal Unity has condemned "continuous attack" on the Kuki-Zo villages in the peripheral areas allegedly by armed Meiteis in the strongest term as it demands deployment of more Central security forces.
CoTU's media cell coordinator, Ng Lun Kipgen said armed Meiteis allegedly launched attack at Twichin, P Phaimol and Gwaltabi villages in Kangpokpi district on August 21 .
He said the alleged attack took place days after three Kukis were killed at Thawai village.
He said Twichin, P Phaimol and Gwaltabi are located just 6 Km from Thawai Kuki village.
The armed men allegedly attacked the Twichin and P Phaimol village at around 3 pm on August 21 and the nearby Gwaltabi Kuki area at 3.35 pm which continued till 4 pm .
There was no casualty, he said.
The alleged attack was carried out despite the presence of Central security forces including the Jat Regiment in the area, he claimed.
He demanded deployment of more Central forces "preferably the Indian Army and the Assam Rifles" .
