Churachandpur, August 22 2023:
Expressing discontentment over allotment of sub-par marks in the 5th semester examination for under graduates, the results of which was declared on Monday, students of Rayburn College in Churachandpur has charged Manipur University authorities of negligence and carelessness in giving marks.
Naomi Lhungdim of Rayburn College, who is among the 10 students out of 75 who cleared the 5th semester examination 2022, expressed disappointment over the result despite the college conducting regular classes.
The university authorities were not judicious in giving marks, she alleged.
Another student - Lalthuamson, while voicing anger over the result, noted that some students who previously managed to score 70-80 marks received single digit marks in the 5th semester examination which is not fair.
"I also got 96 marks in previous semester exams but this time in the 5th semester I got only 35," he said and insisted on mark re-evaluation.
Another examinee named T Sumsuanmung also informed that some meritorious students failed in the 5th semester examination while many received single digit marks dr even got zero which is not acceptable.
"Though there are practical marks of 25, it has not been reflected in the results.
One cannot get only 7 marks," he reasoned.
Meanwhile, Rayburn College principal Khen P Tombing has issued a clarification regarding circulation of news on the social media over the undergraduate examination results of the college.
He said that it is true that only 10 out of 76 students cleared the 5th semester examination, 2022 in the department of psychology and it is also true that some students of the college received Zero or no marks in their 2nd and 4th semester examination 2022 in different subjects.
He, however, said that it is not true that the 10 students clearing their 5th semester examination, 2022 in Psychology and the 5 students clearing their 4th semester examination 2022 in Zoology belonged to the Meitei community, rather they were from the Zo ethnic tribes.
In this connection, the college authority has requested the Manipur University to resolve these issues at the earliest.
