Imphal, August 22 2023:
The relay hunger strike launched under the aegis of Thawai Mirel Women Wing yesterday entered its second day at Naorem Leikai Lairembi Mamang today.
It may be noted that the hunger strike was first kicked off at Singjamei.
Speaking in this connection, Paonam Sanahanbi, co-convenor, Thawai Mirel Women Wing stated that the hunger strike will continue until all the CSOs of the State merge to guide the people under a common agenda and the State Government convenes a special Assembly session and pass certain resolutions to save Manipur.
Expressing the people's desire to live in peace and harmony and returning to a sense of normalcy, she highlighted the necessity of the CSOs to unite in order to turn the people's aspiration into reality.
In this regard, she clarified that she is not calling for the CSOs to maintain a hierarchical structure where one organisation is placed above another in prominence, but simply for the CSOs to unite and take the movement forward collectively with the people.
After the conflict has been successfully resolved, they can go back to their normal way of functioning, she said.
It may be noted that Thawai Mirel has been calling for a special Assembly session to discuss the issues prevailing in Manipur and passing of concrete resolutions to address these problems for quite some time.
